Panagiotis (Panos) Panousos brings over 30 years of experience in the gas sector, having played a role in introducing natural gas to Greece and managing the daily operation of the transmission system. Throughout his career, he has held senior positions at the Public Gas Corporation of Greece (DEPA) as Operation Manager for the High-Pressure System, and at the Hellenic Gas Transmission System Operator (DESFA) as Gas Flow Management Director, IT and Communications Director, and Energy Transition Senior Manager. He has also contributed to shaping Greece’s regulatory framework for hydrogen and renewable gases and served on the national committee for hydrogen strategy development.

Panos also worked with the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG) as System Operation Business Area Manager, where he oversaw technical coordination with members, the European Commission, ACER, and market participants. He led the development of the Interoperability and Data Exchange Network Code and the Transparency Platform.

He currently serves as Director of System Operation at ENTSOG, driving initiatives that strengthen system interoperability, transparency, data exchange, and security of supply, while supporting Europe’s energy transition.

Panos holds an MSc in Chemical Engineering and an MSc in Total Quality Management.
